NMO 4th Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Varg – 2025

NMO ABVV 25
The National Medicos Organisation (NMO) successfully organised the 4th Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Varg on the 16th and 17th of August 2025 at Bengaluru, Karnataka. The Vidyarthi Varg is not merely an event – it is a confluence of ideas, values, inspiration, and guidance for young medicos who wish to dedicate themselves to both the service of health and the service of the nation.

As per the ritual of NMO, before any intellectual journey begins, the collective spirit is invoked through the NMO Mantra. With folded hands and united voices, the hall echoed with the mantra, immediately infusing a sense of discipline, spirituality, and belongingness among the participants.

Prelude to the Varg – 15th August Evening

Although the official dates were 16th and 17th August, the event informally began on the evening of 15th August 2025. This session served as an ice-breaker for participants arriving from across the country. An introduction session was held where each participant introduced themselves, creating the first layer of bonding. Along with this, the organisers discussed the schedule and itinerary for the two days ahead. This informal meet allowed participants to settle in, understand what was coming, and carry forward a sense of camaraderie into the following days.

Day 1 – 16th August 2025

The morning of the 16th was charged with positivity and discipline. At 6:00 am sharp, the sound of the wake-up whistle resonated across the accommodation, followed by mantra chanting over the loudspeaker. This unique morning call awakened not only the body but also the spirit of seva and discipline. After freshening up, participants gathered in the Bhojnalaya, where tea and coffee were served.

At 7:00 am, everyone assembled for the Prarthana session on the ground. This collective prayer session, under the open sky, instilled devotion and togetherness. By 8:00 am, participants had breakfast, and soon after, they prepared to enter the formal proceedings of the day.

Inaugural Ceremony

At 9:00 am sharp, the participants, volunteers, and dignitaries gathered in the conference hall. The programme commenced with the collective singing of the NMO Song, a melodious and motivating anthem that reminded all of the organisation’s motto and values.

The inaugural ceremony was a grand affair. The ceremonial lamp was lit by eminent dignitaries –

  • Sri N Tippeswamy Ji (Chief Guest)
  • Dr. B.N. Gangadhar Ji (Guest of Honour)
  • Dr. Ashwani Tandon (General Secretary, NMO)
  • Dr. Punit Agarwal (Organising Secretary)
  • Dr. Anshita Mishra (Vidyarthi Pramukh)
  • Dr. Kumar Angadi (Joint Organising Secretary)
  • Dr. Satish Kumar S (President, NMO Karnataka)
  • Dr. Hemanth M (Vice President, NMO Karnataka)
  • Dr. Vani Shree Ji, along with many more stalwarts.

The dignitaries addressed the gathering, expressing the importance of the varg and motivating young medicos to imbibe the values of NMO. The words of Sri N Tippeswamy Ji and Dr. Ashwani Tandon Ji left a deep impact on the audience, as they set the tone for what was to follow – two days of intense learning, reflection, and growth.

First Baudhik Session – “Karyakarta”

The first intellectual session was delivered by Dr. Vijendra Kumar (Prof. & Head, Pediatric Surgery, IGIMS Patna) and chaired by Dr. Aruna Vanikar and Dr. M.K. Ramesh.

The topic was “Karyakarta” – the very foundation of organisational work. Dr. Vijendra Kumar explained how a Karyakarta should live and act in real life. He highlighted qualities such as humility, selflessness, being a torchbearer, and always respecting one’s team.

A striking line from his talk stayed with everyone:
“When you overcome ‘I’ and think of ‘We’, only then your life will be in peace.”

He reminded participants that selfishness and social welfare are two faces of the same coin and that the real enemy of a Karyakarta is not the outside world, but one’s own uncontrolled mind. He quoted Swami Vivekananda ji’s inspiring lines:

  • “Happiness is a state of mind; it has nothing to do with the external world.”
  • “The only enemy you face is your uncontrolled mind.”

He also identified the three major troubles a Karyakarta may face: past regrets, future fears, and present tensions. The session left everyone with a clearer understanding of the values a true worker should embody.

Ghat Charcha 1 – How to Conduct an NMO Meeting

The first discussion (Ghat Charcha) was practical in nature. Participants were guided on how to effectively conduct an NMO meeting. With a teacher, coordinator, and observer guiding the session, the following order of meetings was established:

  1. Introduction
  2. Agenda/Motive of the meeting
  3. Q&A
  4. 3M (Money, Man, Machine)
  5. Challenges (conflict resolution, language barriers, managing participation)
  6. Conclusion

One of the most important points highlighted was that every meeting must aim to add at least one new member, ensuring continuous growth.

Second Baudhik Session – How to Give NMO Parichay

Delivered by Dr. Vishwambhar Singh (Prof. & Head, ENT, IMS BHU) and chaired by Dr. Ashwani Tandon and Dr. Vani Shree Ji, this session focused on how to introduce NMO to someone unfamiliar with it.

He explained that a non-member may ask many questions – and every member should be prepared with clear, confident answers. For example:

Why Dhanvantri Bhagwan in the logo? → Because he is the God of health and happiness in our civilization.

Why Swastik? → It signifies “Arogyam Sukhinam” (well-being of all).

Why Swami Vivekananda as an icon? → Because he is Bharat’s youth icon and the one who first presented Indian thought to the West.

Why join NMO? → It is the only organization that brings medicos together for the nation’s good.

What does the NMO symbol signify? → The saffron flag is as sacred as fire.

What is the motto of NMO?Swasthya Seva, Rashtra Seva – serving the nation through health service.

What does NMO do? → Health camps, awareness drives, conferences, Abhyas Varg, CME programs, cultural activities, Nutan Chhatra Abhinandan, Vriksha Ropan, Cycle Yatra, Guru Purnima, Dhanvantri Puja, and more

The session concluded by empowering students with the confidence to represent NMO in their own circles.

Ghat Charcha 2 – NMO Pravas

This discussion highlighted the concept of Pravas (outreach journeys). The purpose was to spread thoughts, connect people, and strengthen the organization. It was explained that Pravas could be planned or unplanned, but in both cases, one must keep in mind – travel, contacts, coordination, language, free-of-expectation attitude, and a learning mindset.

The benefits of Pravas were listed as – improved communication, network building, resilience, leadership, time management, emotional intelligence, and national integration.

Ghat Charcha 3 – Vidyarthi Jeevan and Sangathan Karya

Here, the balance between academics and organizational work was discussed. Students must be diligent in their studies while also sparing time for NMO responsibilities. During exams, duties should be handed over to others. Above all, students must be role models in college, since they represent NMO.

Ghat Charcha 4 – Sampark se Karyakarta Tak

This discussion revolved around the process of transforming an acquaintance into an active NMO member. Meeting, listening, understanding their mindset, keeping constant follow-up, and involving them in NMO activities were emphasized.

Ghat Charcha 5 – Karyakram Yojna Sanchalan evam Sameeksha

The session was about planning and executing events – covering pre-event preparation, smooth conduction, and post-event review.

By the end of Day 1, participants had not only learned but also actively discussed practical aspects of NMO’s functioning.

Day 2 – 17th August 2025

The second day began with the same refreshing routine – wake-up whistle, mantra chanting, tea/coffee, Prarthana, and breakfast. Participants, now more familiar with each other, carried renewed energy into the conference hall.

Baudhik 3 – NMO Karyapranali

The session was delivered by Dr. Yogendra Malik (Prof. Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, BPSGMCW Sonipat) and chaired by Dr. Punit Agarwal and Dr. Geeta Bharat.

He explained the organisational structure of NMO in detail:

Membership → Karyakarta → Sakriya Dhakka → Sakriya Auto Mode → Unit → State Unit → Akhil Bhartiya Team

He highlighted the guiding principles of NMO:

  • Kutumb Bhav over hierarchy
  • Selection over election
  • Dayittva (responsibility) over post
  • Toli (collective) decision-making over individual decisions

His concluding advice included meditation, gratitude, staying close to nature, performing rituals, and keeping oneself spiritually nourished.

Ghat Charcha 6 – Daaitva Bodh

This discussion highlighted the responsibility of an NMO member towards the nation, the society, and the medical fraternity. Participants discussed how to act responsibly in decision-making, how to avoid conflicts, and the importance of listening carefully before responding.

Baudhik 4 – Dheyavadi Jeevan

This session was conducted by Sri Sudhir Ji and chaired by Dr. Rajeev Singh. He explained that in every organisation there are three kinds of people:

  1. Ordinary members
  2. Committed Karyakarta (mentally/intellectually dedicated)
  3. Dheyavadi (life-committed individuals)

He highlighted the qualities of a Dheyavadi life: dedication, positive thinking, and maintaining a student-like mindset throughout life.

He introduced the concept of WATCH

  • W → Words
  • A → Actions
  • T → Thoughts
  • C → Character
  • H → Habits/Hobbies

He beautifully concluded with the line:
“A man with an ideal makes 100 mistakes, a man without an ideal makes 500 mistakes.”

Valedictory Session

The final session was addressed by Sri Ramesh Pappa Ji and chaired by Dr. Punit Agarwal, Dr. Satish Kumar, and Dr. S. Sridhar. He congratulated NMO Karnataka for organising the varg successfully and praised the enthusiasm of participants. He also reflected upon his experiences of earlier Vidyarthi Vargs, providing continuity and perspective to the young medicos present.

Conclusion

The 4th Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Varg – 2025 ended on a note of inspiration, learning, and unity. Over the span of two days, participants were enriched with the values of leadership, responsibility, and dedication. They carried home not just lessons but also a sense of belonging to a larger family.

The varg reinforced the guiding motto of NMO –
“Swasthya Seva, Rashtra Seva” – Serving the Nation through Health Service.
