Allahabad High Court Dismisses Ayushi Patel’s Forged Document Case of NEET 2024; NTA Considers Legal Action

Allahabad, June 18, 2024, Ayushi Patel’s Plea:

The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a petition filed by NEET aspirant Ayushi Patel after uncovering that she submitted forged documents in her claim that the National Testing Agency (NTA) failed to declare her results due to a torn OMR sheet.

The single-judge bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan expressed disappointment over the submission of falsified documents by Ayushi Patel, calling it a “really sorry state of affairs.” She had alleged that her OMR sheet was torn and requested a manual evaluation and an inquiry against the NTA. She also sought to halt the ongoing NEET admission counseling process during the pendency of her petition.

The NTA, however, presented the original documents to the court, proving that Ayushi Patel’s OMR sheet was intact and not damaged. This revelation exposed the forgery, leading the court to dismiss the petition. Justice Chauhan remarked that the court could not prevent the competent authorities from taking legal action against Patel.

Background of the Case

Ayushi Patel initially claimed she had received a communication from the NTA stating that her result would not be declared because her OMR sheet was torn. She took her grievances to social media, sharing a video that criticized the NTA and detailing her allegations. Following this, she filed a writ petition with the Allahabad High Court, demanding a manual review of her OMR sheet and an inquiry into the NTA’s handling of her case.

Court Proceedings and Revelations

During the hearing on June 12, the court ordered the NTA to produce the original documents related to Patel’s claims. The NTA complied, bringing forward the original, undamaged OMR sheet. This evidence contradicted Patel’s allegations and demonstrated that the documents she had submitted were forged.

Upon this discovery, Patel’s counsel admitted they had no further arguments or pleas to present. Consequently, the counsel requested permission for Ayushi Patel to withdraw the petition, which the court granted, resulting in the dismissal of the case.

NTA’s Response and Potential Legal Actions

The NTA informed the court that it is contemplating legal action against Patel for submitting forged documents. Justice Chauhan noted that the court would not interfere with the NTA’s decision to pursue legal recourse in accordance with the law.

Implications of the Case

This case highlights the critical importance of integrity in legal and educational processes. The court’s decision underscores the serious consequences of submitting fraudulent documents and serves as a cautionary tale for others who might consider similar actions. The NTA’s stance on potential legal action reflects its commitment to upholding the integrity of the examination process and ensuring that all candidates are treated fairly.

The dismissal of Patel’s petition reinforces the necessity for authenticity and honesty in the submission of claims, especially in high-stakes examinations like NEET. It also emphasizes the role of the judiciary in maintaining the sanctity of legal proceedings and educational evaluations.

Conclusion

The Allahabad High Court’s decision to dismiss Ayushi Patel’s petition due to the submission of forged documents sends a strong message about the consequences of dishonesty in legal claims. With the NTA considering legal action, this case could set a precedent for how such matters are handled in the future, ensuring that the integrity of the examination process is preserved.
