Aryabhatt Knowledge University (AKU), Bihar plays a crucial role in shaping the future of medical professionals through its MBBS program. In 2023, the NMC amended the evaluation process and passing criteria of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) guidelines, revolutionizing the traditional approach to medical education. However, reports of non-compliance with these guidelines and the subsequent evaluation process of 2022 batch MBBS results have raised concerns about the proficiency and preparedness of the university.
What the new Guideline says :
- There won’t be any Grace Marks.
- There is no minimum score for Paper 1 / Paper 2. However Paper 1 + Paper 2 (Theory Total) they must score minimum 40%. Practical minimum is 40%.
- To pass students must score 50% of Theory total + Practical (Grand Total) provided they have scored 40% each in Theory Total and Practical.
- Despite scoring Theory Total Minimum (40%) and Practical minimum (40%) students will fail if they don’t reach Theory + Practical (Grand Total) minimum (50%).
- Similarly despite scoring Grand Total minimum (50%) if they don’t score Theory/Practical minimum they will fail.

Soon After the declaration of the Result, students found that the evaluation process was not as per the new CBME guidelines and raised their concern to respective HODs, Principal and college management.
The Indian Medical Association ( IMA ) – MSN Bihar has also raised the concern to the university, demanding the re evaluation and revision of the results. The state convenor, Dr. Tanmay Kunj and state secretaries Aman Raj & Vishwa Prakash has assured that IMA will raise the issue to the concern authorities of the University for a fair re-evaluation process and a letter has been sent to the university.
Meanwhile the Principal of SKMCH, Muzaffarpur has also forwarded a letter to the university regarding the issue and as per the reports, other college principal will follow the same very soon.
The burning question is that how such a reputed university ignored the new guidelines or is unaware of the new guidelines that was already communicated by the NMC almost a year ago. Why it shouldn’t be a matter of non compliance and adherence to the rules & laws of the apex body? Why not NMC should take strict action against this negligence?
Aku should take action anyhow for the sake of young doctors
