Yet, these interns in Bihar are being paid <strong>less than what many unskilled or semi-skilled workers earn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To draw a comparison:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>West Bengal and Odisha<\/strong> pay their MBBS interns approximately <strong>\u20b943,000\/month<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IGIMS Patna<\/strong>, a premier institute functioning under the Bihar government, offers <strong>\u20b930,000\/month<\/strong> to MBBS interns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>But the rest of the government medical colleges in Bihar still stick to <strong>\u20b920,000\/month<\/strong>, last revised in <strong>2021<\/strong>, with no increase in the past four years \u2014 violating <strong>Resolution No. 125(1) dated 20.02.2014<\/strong>, which mandates stipend revision every three years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Stipend Less Than Livelihood Wages<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, in cities like Patna:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A car driver earns between <strong>\u20b925,000\u2013\u20b930,000\/month<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Daily wage laborers often make <strong>\u20b9800\u2013\u20b91,200\/day<\/strong>, which can go beyond <strong>\u20b930,000\/month<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skilled workers like painters or electricians easily cross <strong>\u20b935,000\u2013\u20b940,000\/month<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This comparison is not to undermine other professions but to highlight how underpaid our budding doctors are \u2014 despite the critical responsibilities they shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IMA JDN Bihar has placed a <strong>reasonable and justified demand<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Increase the MBBS intern stipend to a minimum of \u20b940,000\/month<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure <strong>timely enhancement and dispersal<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implement the revision in compliance with previously set government resolutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This demand is not merely financial but <strong>moral and dignified<\/strong>, aiming to restore faith among young medical professionals who are often demotivated by systemic apathy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Time for the Government to Act<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As healthcare systems in Bihar rely heavily on the contribution of interns and junior doctors, it is only fair to ensure that their basic financial and professional dignity is upheld. <strong>Ignoring their concerns not only leads to brain drain but also to burnout<\/strong>, demoralization, and a dangerous dip in healthcare delivery quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we entrust these interns with lives, the least we can do is pay them enough to sustain their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not just about money. It&#8217;s about <strong>respect, acknowledgment, and justice<\/strong>.
