This blatant deviation from academic guidelines has sparked outrage, as students were mentally and academically prepared for Paper 1 content only.

What further fanned the flames was the revelation that the question paper seemed to follow the obsolete 2018 examination pattern — a model discarded by the NMC years ago. The protestors questioned how a state university conducting such critical professional examinations could ignore the updated guidelines issued by the apex regulatory body for medical education in India.

“The exam was not just unfair, it was a complete blunder,” said one of the protesting students. “We have spent months preparing as per the syllabus. How can a paper of 50 marks be considered valid? And that too with questions from the wrong paper?”

Students from both NMCH and PMCH staged demonstrations demanding immediate cancellation of the exam and issuance of a fresh paper that adheres to NMC norms and AKU’s own examination policies. They have also called for an impartial and urgent inquiry into the incident to fix responsibility for the oversight.

The protesting students have demanded the examination authorities and are awaiting an official response. Meanwhile, social media is abuzz with support for the affected students, with hashtags like #WeDemandFairExam trending locally.

With the professional exams just beginning, this controversy casts a dark shadow on the integrity of the evaluation process, and many are now questioning the preparedness and competency of the AKU’s examination wing.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement. However, the students remain adamant: “We are not just demanding cancellation; we are demanding justice. We will not settle for anything less than a fair, transparent, and rule-based examination.”

The medical fraternity and student organizations across Bihar have extended solidarity with the protesting batch, urging the AKU administration to act swiftly before trust in the entire system erodes beyond repair.

For more updates, follow us on X (Twitter), Instagram & Facebook.
