In a heartbreaking incident at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College & Hospital (JLNMCH), Bhagalpur<\/strong> Bihar<\/strong>, a first-year medical student, Rajeev Ranjan<\/strong>, committed suicide in his hostel room amidst the ongoing university examination. The District police has logged the FIR and Investigation is in progress but there are several concerns that needs to be answered. Why the incidence of Suicide cases among medical students & NEET aspirants is increasing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to his batchmates, Rajeev was very depressed as he was not satisfied with his Anatomy paper-II<\/strong> held on 1st Dec. 2023<\/strong> but the major thing that compelled him to took his life was the mental trauma and torture he faced by the Professor & HOD of Anatomy Dept. Dr. Aloka Sharma<\/strong>. As per reports Rajeev was not ‘sent up’ (allowed to sit in the university examination) by the HOD. However, he was permitted to appear for the paper later when only few days were left for the exam. He also managed to attend the Anatomy Paper I and II but just before the 3rd Paper ( Physiology, 3rd Dec. 2023<\/strong> ), he took his life in the evening of 2nd Dec 2023<\/strong> due to immense pressure and anxiety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students of JLNMCH are already on protest and OPD is closed since 2nd dec. They also wrote letter to the College Principal & NMC seeking the justice and action against the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The news of the suicide has sparked frustration among the students, leading to protests against alleged exploitation by the medical colleges. Students cite inadequate hostel facilities and an unsupportive academic environment, highlighting the lack of infrastructure and the risk of expulsion for expressing dissent. The medical college superintendent found themselves surrounded by upset students expressing their concerns. Several students from other medical colleges of Bihar and Indian Medical Association MSN Bihar team are also on protest, demanding the justice from the administration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

OPD closed, student on protest, outrage, candle march, patients facing difficulty but not a single action from the college administration! why? Who is stopping the college administration from taking the required action? Where is the resignation of Dr. Aloka ? Nation needs the answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
