After the webinar, conducted on 27th June 2023 and release of the gazette on National Exit Test Regulations 2023, the entire medical fraternity is continuously raising their concern on social media platforms over the implementation of NExT & Mock test that is scheduled on 28th July 2023 and demanding its withdrawal through protest from different colleges of the country.
On July 6th, the Education Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya while addressing the MBBS students of AIIMS Raipur said that there will be no next exam for 2019 batch, they will get the degree after MBBS but they will have to give NExT for registration of their degree, In response to a question raised by a student. However, there is still no clarification by the NMC.
Meanwhile the voices against implementation of NExT is continuously being raised from all over the country over social media. We have already covered the protest at IGIMS and MMCH. In a recent development students of Katihar Medical College were on protest against the NExT. In retaliation to this, the college management has taken action and suspended few students who were the part of protest and released a notice for the same.
The students who gave press briefing have been suspended for 30 days, and the rest has been suspended for 15 days. In addition to this, the college has asked the students to leave the college and hostel campus within 24hrs for the entire suspension period.
College management has also said that the students who are debarred from attending academic and clinical classes were given a chance to submit their reply. On scrutiny of the reply, it is observed that all of them have copied the reply of each other rather than writing in their own language. The reply has been found unsatisfactory. Hence they have been suspended.
