MBBS, the new B.Tech ?

Few days back a image of a crowded GTB Hospital, New Delhi went viral on social media, shared by influencer and Dr. Dhruv Chauhan on twitter. He further added “20 posts , 500+ candidates MBBS is the New BTech”.

Hours after the tweet went viral, many doctors and medical aspirants took to twitter and started reacting to the same.

Few Doctors claimed that JR stipend in Delhi is approx ₹ 80,000 to ₹ 90,000, that’s why more number of students apply in Delhi hospitals JR vacancy.

Dr. Prakash, said that it was very common in Delhi as the Junior Resident’s salary was highest in Delhi as compared to other parts of the country. “Some doctors even pay bribes to get those jobs,” he claimed.

Dr. Pragya Shukla, HOD (Clinical Oncology) at Delhi State Cancer Institute, said this is the state of the doctors when the whole time “we keep hearing about the scarcity of doctors”. She said there was no scarcity of doctors. “Doctors are jobless. Create jobs.”

Even this year (NEET 2023), more than 21 lakhs candidates appeared for the examination which is highest till now in India. Whereas there are only approx 1 lakhs MBBS seats in India.
