About

The Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW) was founded by Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, the Founder and Chancellor of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Inspired by the biographical movie about India’s first female doctor, Anandibai Joshi, Dr. Mujumdar envisioned a medical college exclusively for women. This initiative aims to empower women and contribute to nation-building by increasing the number of female doctors. The college operates under the Faculty of Health Sciences at Symbiosis.

The SMCW is located on the scenic campus of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) at Lavale, Pune. The college has an annual intake of 150 students. It features state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, and is associated with the Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre.
